Safety on TaskOak
TaskOak is a marketplace: each professional is responsible for their own work. Here is what TaskOak does to help you choose well, and what you can do if something goes wrong.
Identity checks
A professional can ask to be verified by sending their legal name, a photo of an identity document and a selfie through the app. A member of TaskOak staff compares them and decides. Only then does the profile show as verified.
Verification checks who someone is. It is not a guarantee of the quality of their work, so read their reviews too.
Identity documents and selfies are seen only by authorised staff, every look at them is recorded, and they are deleted as soon as a decision is made.
Reviews you can rely on
Only the customer of a completed booking can review it, and only once. Anyone can report a review that is false, abusive or breaks the rules, and staff can hide it.
Reporting
- A conversation: in the chat, open the menu and choose Report conversation, then say what happened.
- A review: on the professional's profile, choose Report review under the review.
- A problem with a booking: open the booking and choose Get support to send a help request to TaskOak staff.
TaskOak staff can hide content, suspend a professional's listing, or close an account that breaks the Terms of Service.
Blocking
If someone is bothering you, open your chat with them, open the menu and choose Block or unblock user. Once blocked, they can no longer send you messages. You can unblock them the same way.
Staying safe
- Keep your conversation and arrangements inside the TaskOak app, so there is a record if something goes wrong.
- Check the professional's profile, prices and reviews before you book.
- Pay after the service, as the app asks for now. Be wary of anyone who asks for money up front outside the app.
- Never share passwords, card numbers or one-time codes with anyone, including people who say they work for TaskOak.
- If you are in danger, call the emergency number 112 first.
